I finally looked up how much I spent on caulking and sealants last year

I was cleaning out my garage this afternoon and found like 8 half used tubes of caulk from different projects. Decided to add up what I spent on all that stuff in 2024. Turns out I dropped almost $140 on caulking and weatherstripping alone. That's insane for something that costs $4 a tube. Has anyone else ever tracked what they spend on little consumables like this and had a shock?

Rant: stop using duct tape for everything in your house

I keep seeing posts about people fixing broken pipes or loose vents with duct tape. That stuff is not for plumbing or HVAC work. It dries out and peels off after a few months. I work nights and came home to a flooded laundry room last week because a neighbor used duct tape on a pipe joint. Use proper repair tape or call a plumber. Anyone else seen duct tape fail in a bad spot?

Question about hitting 50k views on my repair video - was that normal?

Honestly, last week my DIY video on fixing a leaky toilet flapper hit 50k views on YouTube, and I’m still shocked. I just filmed it with my phone in my basement with zero editing, and it’s way more than my other stuff. I don’t even have a big channel, like 200 subs. Is that a fluke or did I just catch the right search terms? Has anyone else had a random video blow up like that and figure out why?

Shingle repair recommendations? (West End)

Noticed some curling and a few missing shingles on the back side of my house. I'm looking for a good roofing contractor toronto area, preferably in the west end. Just need a repair, not a whole new roof yet.
