Best $40 I spent before moving was a furniture dolly

When I moved from Austin to Denver last year, I grabbed a cheap $40 furniture dolly from Harbor Freight. Saved my back hauling boxes and a heavy dresser up three flights of stairs at the new place. Had to replace two wheels after a few trips, but still way cheaper than hiring movers. Anyone else swear by a specific tool for a DIY move?

TIL moving with a pod is way cheaper than a full moving truck

I spent weeks pricing out U-Haul and Budget for my move from Austin to Denver... came out to around $2,800 with gas and the one-way fee. Then a buddy told me to try a pod service like PODS or U-Pack, and I got it done for $1,650 even with insurance. Has anyone else made the switch and saved money on a long distance move?

A realtor told me my house photos were killing my listing, she was right

I had my house in Phoenix up for 3 weeks with zero showings, and a family friend who sells homes said my photos looked like a storage unit. She told me to declutter every counter, take down half the wall decor, and reshoot with a cheap wide angle lens on my phone. Has anyone else had a small change like that completely flip how fast their place gets traction in a slow market?

PSA: My neighbor told me to toss my bubble wrap when moving dishes

I used to wrap every single plate and bowl in bubble wrap for moves, but my neighbor who moves every 3 years for work said to use newsprint or packing paper instead. She said bubble wrap actually makes dishes slide around inside the box and crack more often. Tried it for my last move from Austin to Dallas last month and not a single thing broke. Anyone else find a weird moving hack that actually works?
