That guy at the hardware store told me to ditch my non-stick pan
I was making scrambled eggs with a scratched up non-stick and he said get a carbon steel pan instead. Took me a week to season it right but now the eggs slide off like nothing I have ever seen. Who else got cooking advice from a random store employee that actually worked out?

Oh man, that's wild... did the guy go into the whole seasoning spiel or just hand you the pan? My local hardware store guy did the same thing with cast iron a few years back and it totally changed how I cook. I was burning everything in a non-stick that was basically a Teflon ghost, and he just pointed at a Lodge skillet and said 'try this instead.' Now I've got three different sizes, my cornbread comes out perfect every time, and I even make smash burgers in it that taste like a diner... best random advice I ever got for sure.

Right? Its wild how much better simple pans work once you put a little work into them.
