Noticed a lot of people posting fridges with just condiments and beer

I was scrolling through here last night and saw like five fridges in a row with basically nothing but hot sauce, ketchup, and a six-pack. That's not a fridge, that's a pantry for your hangovers. Do you guys actually cook or just eat takeout and hope for the best?

Three weeks ago I would've been the first to roll my eyes seeing a fridge full of mustard and IPA. But then I totaled up what I spent on groceries I threw away last year and it was over $800. That's a plane ticket. So yeah, seeing a fridge with just sriracha and some pickles makes more sense now. If your budget is tight, why spend it on a bag of spinach you'll forget about when that spinach is literally just guilt in a bag. I still like cooking but I get why someone would rather spend that cash on literally anything else that doesn't rot.

Those condiment-only fridges tell me you're probably saving your grocery money for something you actually care about, like a hobby or travel. Maybe the real flex isn't the beer, it's the freedom from meal prep stress.

You know, I used to totally roll my eyes at condiment-only fridges. I thought it was some kind of performative adulting thing, like people were bragging about how little they eat. But "freedom from meal prep stress" really hit me. I've been that person stressing over Sunday meal prep, buying a ton of fresh stuff that goes bad, and spending all weekend in the kitchen. Now I see it differently. Maybe having just ketchup and pickles in the fridge means you've got your grocery money going towards a weekend trip instead of a sad chicken breast you'll never cook. That actually sounds pretty smart to me now.
