My new fridge thermometer saved me from a bad chicken situation
I grabbed a cheap digital fridge thermometer for about $12 last month. It showed my fridge was actually running at 48 degrees, not the 37 I had it set for. That explained why some leftovers felt off. I had a pack of chicken I was about to cook, but the temp reading made me toss it just to be safe. Probably avoided some serious stomach trouble. Has anyone else found a simple kitchen tool that stopped a mistake?

How long did it take you to notice the temp difference after you set it? Was it just a one-time reading or did you let it sit in there for a day or two to see if it evened out? I ask because I've seen some cheap thermometers bounce around a lot depending on where you place them, like right next to the door or in the back near the cooling vent. That 48 degree reading could've been a fluke if the sensor was too close to warm air when you opened it.

What about a meat thermometer? Mine beeps when food hits the safe temp. Stopped me from undercooking pork chops last week. That little beep is a lifesaver.

How did I ever cook without one? That beep takes all the guesswork out and just gives you peace of mind. Total game changer for sure.
