My fancy $45 cheese grater literally snapped in half while I was shredding a block of cheddar last Tuesday

Had to use a vegetable peeler to finish the job and now I'm staring at half a bag of spinach, some sad cherry tomatoes, and a wedge of parmesan that's too small to grate anyway has anyone else had a kitchen tool just give up mid-recipe?

Right when you need them most self-destruct timer" hit hard. I used to roll my eyes at people complaining about cheap kitchen gear, figured they just didn't know how to shop. Then my $50 garlic press split open mid-squeeze last month, right when I had guests coming over. @willow_garcia that's a fair question, but yeah, it's that serious when you're scraping garlic bits off the counter with your bare hands. Now I'm stuck grating cheese with a rusty box grater from the 90s wondering what's gonna fail next.

Is it really that serious though? @jones.brooke

Oh man, it's like appliances and tools have a built-in "right when you need them most" self-destruct timer now. Everything from my blender to my can opener waits until I'm halfway through something important to just give up on life.
