Vent: I was undercharging for my design work for years without knowing it

I was talking to another freelancer at a coffee shop in Austin last week and she asked what I charged for a logo. When I said $300, she just stared and said 'You're doing a full brand guide for that, right?' I wasn't. I'd been doing full custom logos for that flat rate since I started. I looked up average rates online that night and felt like an idiot. Has anyone else had a wake-up call about their pricing that late in the game?

Did you ever check what your clients actually thought the value was?

Yeah that's a great point. I've seen companies spend a ton on fancy features no one actually uses. Like that app that added AR filters when all people wanted was faster loading times. You gotta ask people what they really need, not just guess. Sometimes the simplest fix is what matters most.
