Tried raising rates by 20% on new clients only. Lost one but gained three.

'Lost one but gained three' seems about right, people usually want what costs more.

Man, I feel you on that. It's always a gamble when you tweak pricing, and losing even one client stings a bit even when the math works out. I had a similar thing happen last year when I bumped my hourly rate up by 15 bucks for new folks, and I was sweating bullets for a week. But yeah, sometimes the ones who leave were never going to be long term anyway, and the new ones actually value what you're doing.

losing one client and sweating for a week over a 15 dollar jump? man that seems like a lot of stress for not much. i get being nervous but putting that much weight on a single client who might leave anyway feels like overthinking it. most people won't even notice a 15 dollar difference if your work is solid. the ones who leave are usually the ones who were already looking for a reason to go. i'd rather focus on the people who stick around than panic over the one who bolts.
