Tried hourly billing for 6 months and it was a nightmare compared to flat project fees

Chasing every 15 minute increment made me lose 3 hours a week just logging time, while flat fees on my last two web design gigs in Portland paid the same with zero tracking stress - has anyone else ditched the clock for fixed rates?

Right there with you! Swapped to flat fees for my graphic design projects and it was such a relief not to watch the clock all day. Chasing 15 minute blocks made me feel like a robot instead of a creative person, plus clients would get weird about small charges. Fixed rates just feel way more chill and I actually get paid what I'm worth without all the overhead stress.

It's funny how moving away from hourly billing just makes everything feel less transactional, kind of like how subscription services took the stress out of remembering to pay for stuff every month. The whole "tracking every minute" thing really kills the flow of doing good work.
