That client who told me to charge more per hour after a bad project
A client in Portland told me I was underselling myself after I finished a logo for $200 and they said it was worth double. Now I raise my rate by $5 every new contract and I'm getting better projects, anyone else had a client push them to charge more?

$200 for a logo? Dang that's super cheap even for a basic one.

Yeah "super cheap" is one way to look at it. I've seen logo design contests where the winner gets like $50 and then the company owns 50 different concepts they didn't pay for. That's way worse than paying one designer a fair rate. But here's the thing nobody talks about - $200 for a logo that someone just slaps together in an hour with clip art is actually a total ripoff. A good logo takes research, multiple revisions, and understanding the brand. So either this designer is crazy fast and talented or they're just pumping out templates. I'd rather pay $500 for something that actually works across a website, business cards, and a sign than $200 for something I'll have to redo next year.
