Question about changing how I handle client calls
I used to just hop on Zoom calls with no plan and hope for the best, which often led to messy follow-up emails. After a client in Austin last month asked me to repeat three key points from our chat, I started using a simple Google Doc to write down three questions I need answered before every call. Now I send that doc as a summary right after we talk. Has anyone else found a better way to keep calls clear and useful?

Yeah that "repeat three key points" thing is a killer. My buddy had a client ask him to basically recap the whole meeting right after they hung up. He started recording the audio on his laptop, just for himself, so he could check his notes.

Did he tell the client he was recording it, or just keep that part private? That's a tricky line.

Yeah the recording thing is tough, I feel for your buddy. I've been in that same spot where you're scrambling after a call trying to remember exactly what was said (especially when clients ask for recaps). The line between covering your own butt and invading someone's privacy is real blurry, I get why he kept it private though. It's not like he's sharing it with anyone, he's just trying to do his job better without messing up.
