Overheard a barista say she only works with one client at a time, for stability

She argued it's less stressful, but I think diversifying income is safer. Anyone ever try the single-client model and did it work out?

My cousin tried that with a long term freelance gig. It was great until the contract ended suddenly and she had zero income for months. Relying on one client feels like walking a tightrope without a net.

Yeah, that's the freelance dream turning into a spreadsheet nightmare real fast.

And isn't that the part nobody talks about before you jump into this stuff? You spend all this time chasing the dream of being your own boss, then you wake up one day and realize you're just trading one boss for a dozen different deadlines and invoices. The spreadsheet part is real too because you have to track every single hour and expense like a hawk or you'll miss something. It's not just about doing the work anymore, it's about managing the whole circus around the work. That romantic idea of freedom gets buried under all the admin stuff real quick, doesn't it?
