Vent: Growing those fancy ranunculus from seed felt like forever

I decided to try growing ranunculus from seed for a spring display at my shop. The packet said 12-16 weeks, but it felt much longer. Every day, I'd check the trays and water them, hoping for sprouts. Weeks went by with nothing, and I started doubting my methods. Tiny green shoots finally appeared after what seemed like ages, but they grew so slow. I had to keep the soil just right and protect them from cold snaps. When they finally bloomed, the wait was worth it, but it tested my patience. How do you all deal with slow-growing plants for events?

Tbh I always start seeds way earlier than the packet says, like a full month extra. That buffer saves so much stress for event dates.

Honestly, I was all about following packet dates until david_knight mentioned wiggle room and your buffer idea. Might have to steal that early start for less stress next time.

Totally get that, gives you some wiggle room if anything goes wrong.
