Just lost a $300 wedding order because I trusted a new supplier's 'guaranteed' overnight delivery

It's that same blind trust we put in any service with a fancy guarantee. You see it with food delivery apps saying your meal is on the way when the driver is ten miles away, or a plumber who swears he'll be there at eight sharp. The word "guaranteed" just means they'll give you your money back after they've already ruined your day. For important things, you have to plan like everything will go wrong.

Reminds me of a friend who ordered a custom cake for her kid's party with a "guaranteed" delivery. The bakery ghosted her completely. She ended up running to three grocery stores at 7 AM, which is exactly the backup plan mark723 is talking about. That guarantee was just a line on their website.

Ever have a backup plan for critical deliveries? I learned the hard way to always have a second option lined up, even if it costs a bit more. For something like a wedding, I'd split the order between two suppliers or pay for shipping with a major carrier I've used before. That guarantee is just a promise to refund your shipping cost, which doesn't help when the product never shows up.
