TIL my airlock bubbler went dry overnight and my whole batch of sauerkraut got a weird film on top.

I had to toss about 3 pounds of cabbage after leaving it for just a day without checking the water level, so what's your go-to method to remember to top off airlocks?

Ugh, that film is absolutely a big deal, it means you've got mold.

Agree 100%, that scummy film on top is never just "nothing." Found it on my kombucha jar once and literally threw the whole thing out. Had to deep clean my fridge too.
