Rant: My cousin told me to just leave the sauerkraut alone for a full month
He said not to burp the jar at all, which went against everything I'd read online. It built up so much pressure the lid blew off and painted my kitchen ceiling. How long do you actually let yours go without checking it?

Oh man, that's a new kind of kitchen art. Your cousin owes you a new jar and a mop. I check mine every couple days, no way I'm trusting a sealed bomb.
