That moment I thought I could patch drywall in 2 hours
Honestly, I figured patching a 4 inch hole in my hallway would be a quick morning job. I had the mesh patch, joint compound, and sandpaper all ready to go. But after three coats of mud, two rounds of sanding, and waiting for everything to dry, it took me like six hours total. The worst part was that the texture never matched, so I had to redo the whole section again. Anyone else get blindsided by how long drywall repair actually takes?

Did you try using a spray texture can? I had the same problem with my bedroom wall and the can made it blend in way better than I could with a brush or sponge. Saved me from redoing the whole thing.

Thats a REALLY good point @amyh21, sometimes the simplest fix is the one we overlook because we're too busy overcomplicating things. It's funny how we always assume we need the BIG expensive solution when a cheap can of spray does the job.
