One comment about my shiplap spacing changed my whole install process

I was putting up shiplap in my Denver basement and a guy on here said my 1/8 inch spacers would look sloppy on uneven studs. He told me to use a 5/16 inch gap and a chalk line instead. I tried it on one wall and now the whole room looks WAY more level. Has anyone else had to redo their spacing method because of a random internet stranger?

Trust the chalk line over the spacers every time, especially if your studs arent perfect. Once you get that first row dead level, the rest of the boards just follow along and you stop fighting the wall. I did the same thing on my last project and ended up ripping out half my first wall to redo it, so youre ahead of the game by catching it early.
