My garage door opener install turned into a 5-hour ordeal because I mixed up the traveler wires

Spent an extra 4 hours rewiring after I swapped the red and white terminals on the Chamberlain unit and the door just twitched at me like it was laughing, anyone else ever chase a basic wiring mistake that turned a 30-minute job into an all-day thing?

the door just twitched at me like it was laughing" is a great description (I've been there with a furnace blower motor that just hummed at me), but honestly it sounds like you had it sorted in an hour once you realized the mistake so why dramatize it? Five hours total for a garage door opener (which I've done in 45 minutes with a beer break) feels like you might have been overthinking things or watching too many YouTube tutorials in between.

Doesn't it feel like every small project has two different versions? The story you tell later and the messy reality of crawling around on a garage floor? Tbh @oscarb71, I think there's this weird pressure now to act like everything's a speedrun, like you're wasting time if you aren't efficient. But half the time I'm just dealing with stripped screws, lost tools, and that moment where you have to sit down and stare at it for ten minutes. That's not overthinking, that's just how life goes when nothing fits perfect the first time.
