Just realized I spent a month trying to fix a single cabinet door
In my experience, everyone says to just sand and repaint old kitchen cabinets, but my 1950s house had a door that was warped in a way I couldn't see at first. I tried shims, new hinges, and planing it down over three weekends before I found the real issue: a hidden crack in the frame from an old repair. Fixing that properly with glue and clamps took another week of drying and sanding. Has anyone else had a simple job turn into a huge puzzle because of a hidden problem?

Man that sounds so familiar lol. Last summer I tried to replace a single cracked floor tile in my bathroom. Pulled it up and found the subfloor underneath was totally rotten from a slow leak. Ended up having to tear out half the bathroom floor and replace a whole section of plywood. What was a one hour job turned into a three week mess.

My kitchen sink leak turned into a full cabinet replacement.

My buddy had this exact thing happen with his fridge ice maker. He thought it was just a clogged water line, so he spent a Saturday afternoon trying to snake it out and replace a filter. Then the line burst when he turned the water back on, flooding his whole kitchen floor. He ended up having to pull the fridge out and discovered the connector was cracked from the factory, which caused a slow leak that ruined his laminate. That one ice maker turned into a new floor and a weekend of drying out cabinets with fans.
