Hot take: I used to slap patch on drywall holes without mesh tape...

For years I'd just glob joint compound over a hole and sand it flat, thinking it looked fine. Then I watched a guy on YouTube show a side by side of a taped repair vs untaped one after 6 months. The untaped one had a crack running right through the middle like a fault line. I switched to using fiberglass mesh tape last spring and the difference is night and day. Now I even use it for small nail holes just to be safe. Anyone else have a drywall trick they wish they learned sooner?

Man I finally broke down and bought a proper taping knife last week after years of using a putty knife.
