Honestly, that $40 smart outlet I bought for my garage lights just bricked itself after a month.
Ngl, it just stopped responding to the app and now the lights are stuck on. Anyone know a more reliable brand that won't just die?

@joseph932 hit it - a month is rough but honestly not surprising with those cheap wifi outlets. I've had the same thing happen with two different brands where the cloud server just stops talking to the device. Try getting a Z-Wave or Zigbee switch instead, they don't need the internet to work. Pair it with a hub like Hubitat or SmartThings and you won't have that problem. I switched to a Zooz Z-Wave plug for my garage lights over a year ago and it's still running solid, no app drama.

Actually it was more like six weeks, but it felt like forever. The whole process was way more draining than I expected. You don't realize how much you rely on that little device until it's gone. Definitely backing up my photos more often now.
