Finally fixed my neighbor's leaky faucet after 3 tries last weekend

I'm not a plumber or anything, but my neighbor asked me to take a look at her kitchen faucet that's been dripping for months. First attempt I just replaced the washer. Still dripped. Second time I swapped the whole cartridge. Still dripped. Third time I took the whole thing apart and found this tiny crack in the supply line under the sink. $8 part from Ace Hardware and it's been dry for 5 days now. She gave me a plate of cookies. Has anyone else had a simple repair turn into a whole day project?

and that's exactly the kind of thing I read about in some home repair blog last week. They talked about how the first thing you check is always the wrong thing, you know, because your brain wants the simple fix to be the answer. I had a similar thing with my toilet running constantly, swapped out the flapper, then the fill valve, and it turned out to be a tiny hairline crack in the overflow tube I didn't even know existed. It's frustrating because those small cracks are hard to spot unless you're really digging around in there with a flashlight. But hey, cookies make up for it, right? That's a pretty good deal for an $8 part and a few hours of your Saturday.

@the_elliot you ever try a dye tablet or just food coloring in the tank? That crack would have shown up RIGHT away with colored water seeping out.
