Built a workbench at my brother's place, came home and redid my whole garage

Went to help my brother in Cleveland last month. He had this basic 2x4 frame bench with a plywood top, nothing fancy. But he built it so the top was exactly at his wrist height when standing. I always just used whatever table was around. Spent 4 hours using his bench and realized I'd been bending over for years at my own setup. Came back and measured mine, it was 4 inches too low. Took a Saturday to raise it and add some storage underneath. My back feels better after just a few projects. Has anyone else tried matching bench height to their body instead of some standard size?

My garage bench is still whatever height the previous homeowner left it, so I just do all my work in a permanent squat like a caveman. Actually tried measuring once and realized my "workbench" is just an old dresser I got for free, so the real fix was buying a stool that makes me look like a tiny concert pianist. Good on you for figuring out the wrist thing though, that's some real adulting right there. Maybe next year I'll graduate to cutting a 2x4 that's not crooked.
