Why does nobody warn you that saving every rating in a spreadsheet turns movie night into homework
I used to just open a notes app and type stuff like "Heat 4/5, slow middle" and that was it, maybe 20 seconds and done. About 7 months ago I got the bright idea to build a proper spreadsheet with columns for year, runtime, rewatch value, mood, and a 1 to 10 score with decimals, because I thought it would make my ratings cleaner. Now I spend more time scrolling through old rows arguing with myself over whether Black Swan is an 8.6 or an 8.7 than I do actually watching anything. I sat down for a 2 hour movie on a Saturday and burned 40 minutes just setting up the next batch of rows before I hit play. My girlfriend asked who the decimal is even for and honestly I did not have an answer. Has anyone gone back to a simple list after overbuilding their system, or did the spreadsheet actually stick for you long term?
