Took me 4 years to figure out I was rating movies wrong, a $2 notebook in Spokane fixed it
So for years I would finish a movie and just throw a number at it, like 7 out of 10, right there in my head, no notes. Then back in 2019 I walked out of a theater in Spokane and gave a film an 8, and two days later I couldn't tell you a single thing about it. That bugged me. My buddy asked what I liked and I just sat there. So I started jotting two lines in a cheap $2 notebook the next time, one thing that worked and one that didn't, before I let myself score it. Now here's my debate for you all: does writing stuff down make your scores honest, or does it just make you overthink a fun night? A part of me thinks the gut number you blurt out first is the real one and the notes are just me being a nerd. What do you all do, score it on the spot or mull it over first?
