Finally found a cozy little bookstore that rates its own books on display cards

I was in Portland last weekend and stopped into this tiny shop called The Spotted Cat. Each book on the shelf had a handwritten card from one of the staff with a score out of 5 and a short note about why they liked it. It felt like getting a recommendation from a friend rather than an algorithm. Has anyone else run into a place that does this kind of personal touch with their media?

Yeah is that place still open? I went a couple years ago and they had a great selection of weird sci-fi.

Has it actually been good though? I went last year and the shelves were half empty, mostly old copies of like Robert Heinlein and not the fun weird stuff.
