Debate: Do you rate stuff harder now than you did 10 years ago or are you more forgiving?

I was thinking about this the other day while rewatching The Matrix. I used to give everything a 9 or 10 back in my 20s. Now in my late 30s, I feel like I hand out way more 6s and 7s. Like I notice plot holes or bad acting way faster. But my buddy says the opposite, he says getting older made him softer and he rates things higher because he appreciates the effort more. What side are you on? Did a specific movie or show flip your rating style?
