Caught myself rewatching my favorite scenes at 1.5x speed and felt like a total fraud
Last Thursday I was watching The Wire season 3 and realized I had the playback speed bumped up on my laptop just to get through the slow dialogue parts. I do it all the time with shows I say I love, but that moment hit different when I saw the characters acting their hearts out while I rushed past. Made me wonder how many movies I've actually half-watched while scrolling my phone or skipping ahead. Has anyone else caught themselves doing this and had to stop and reset your whole viewing habit?

What, you bumped up The Wire? I'm shook. That show has some of the best dialogue ever written, skipping it feels like a crime.

18 years I've been watching TV and movies and I think skipping through slow parts makes you appreciate the good stuff more. Back when we had DVDs we all fast-forwarded through boring scenes, now people act like it's some crime against filmmaking. The Wire's great but let's be real, some of those political scenes drag on forever and don't add much to the core story. If I'm rewatching a show I've already seen, I know which parts matter to me and which don't. Being efficient with your time doesn't make you a fraud, it makes you honest about what you actually enjoy. Most people who complain about skipping scenes probably brag about watching movies on their phones while doing dishes anyway.

@drew_patel57 so you're saying the boring parts are just filler, but @sarahpatel what about shows where the slow stuff sets up something huge later - are you skipping those too?
