Vent: overheard a client say their last stylist "just got them" in 20 minutes flat

Dude was bragging about a $35 cut that took no time at all, and I wanted to scream about the difference between a quick snip and actual consultation work. Has anyone else had to politely smile while someone compares your prices to that kind of rush job?

A 20 minute cut with no real consult is basically a trim and a prayer, not a proper haircut. That stylist probably didn't ask about their hair texture, how they style it at home, or what their daily routine looks like. Real consultation work takes time because you're figuring out what works for their face shape and lifestyle. Fast doesn't always mean good, especially when they walk out and can't recreate the look on their own. It's fine to be quick but skipping those steps is why people end up unhappy a week later. I just nod and smile too but inside I'm screaming.

@evab52 I get what you're saying, but isn't the consult supposed to happen before the scissors even come out?
