Unpopular take - I actually hate the 'no heat' challenge trend
I was at a salon expo in Austin last September and watched this big influencer do a demo on how she only uses air drying and no tools. Everyone was clapping and saying how healthy hair should be. But as a cosmetologist who specializes in curly hair, I think that trend is super misleading for most clients. My own hair looks like a frizzy mess if I dont hit it with a diffuser for at least 15 minutes. Ive had clients cry in my chair because they tried the no heat thing for 3 months and their hair got brittle and tangled from never being properly set. Its one thing if you have naturally perfect texture, but pushing that on everyone ignores different porosity and density. The science of heat protection is real, and I think we lost the plot on that in favor of a hashtag. Anyone else feel like the industry went too hard on demonizing heat tools?

I definitely relate to the 'hair got brittle and tangled' part. I tried the no heat thing for a few months last year and my ends were a disaster. A quick blast with a diffuser on low actually saved me more than air drying ever did.

Wait, you actually had a good point - I used to roll my eyes at heat protectant but my hairdresser showed me the science last month.
