Unpopular opinion: foiling with the hair dryer on low beat my $180 infrared lamp on gray coverage
I do a lot of gray blending on clients who want a soft grow out, and last Friday I tried processing the color under a cheap dryer I got at a salon swap for 20 bucks instead of my usual infrared lamp. The color grabbed way more evenly at the root and my client with stubborn 30 percent gray at the temples actually got full coverage on the first pass. Does anyone else think the expensive lamps are kind of a scam for fine hair?
A cheap dryer is way less consistent than an infrared lamp, so one good result does not mean much. Try running that same test on ten heads of thick resistant gray and get back to me.
