Showerthought: My $200 investment in a proper color-coded brush cleaning system is the only thing keeping me sane.

I used to just chuck everything in a jar of barbicide and hope for the best, but the cross-contamination was a mess. Now I have separate, labeled tubs for each color family and my brushes last twice as long. Anyone have a better system for cleaning those huge paddle brushes without wrecking them?

Cross-contamination was a mess" is so real, I was the same. I finally got a silicone mat with those little scrubby nubs and it's a game changer for my big brushes, just gentle circles with brush soap. What kind of soap do you use?

Oh nice, @rose_grant78. I just use a plain bar of olive oil soap, the cheap kind. It gets all the foundation out of my big powder brush.

That silicone mat trick sounds like a total lifesaver.
