Saw a really cool color melt on a client at the mall in Springfield

I was grabbing coffee at the food court and this woman walked by with the smoothest transition from a deep plum to a soft rose gold I've ever seen. It made me stop and think about the exact placement of the lightener they must have used. How do you all keep your melt lines that soft without the colors bleeding together?

Read a stylist interview that said the key is using a thick conditioner as a barrier between the colors. That tracks with what @williams90 saw, because a clean blue to silver needs that kind of control. Makes the whole process look way less messy.

Right? I saw a killer one last week at the grocery store, a perfect blue to silver fade. The stylist must have used some serious skill to keep it that clean.

That thick conditioner trick makes total sense for keeping colors from bleeding. @williams90, did that blue to silver fade look like it was done all in one sitting, or do you think they had to build up to that silver over a few appointments? Getting silver that pure usually means bleaching the heck out of it first without wrecking the hair.
