Just found out the average stylist throws away $600 of product a year, and I believe it
I was at a continuing ed class in Dallas back in March and the instructor threw out this number that stuck with me. She said the average booth renter wastes around $600 worth of color and product every year because of overmixing and bad measuring. I sat there doing the math on my own chair and honestly it checks out. I used to mix a full bowl of lightener for a partial foil just to be safe, then dump half of it. Same thing with developer, I would grab the big bottle because it was closer. I started actually measuring my color with a scale about four months ago and my supply bill went down almost $50 a month. That is real money when you are renting a chair and buying everything yourself. So what is your honest setup, do you measure by weight or do you still eyeball it and hope for the best?
