Heard a stylist say she never sanitizes her shears between clients

Was waiting for my shift at the salon last week and overheard a newer stylist tell her friend she just wipes her shears with a towel between cuts. Took everything in me not to jump in and say something. How do you gently correct someone without making it awkward?

Oh I totally get the urge to say something, but honestly you have to be super careful because (and I know this sounds harsh) she's literally making a basic safety mistake and it's not really a gentle correction situation. I mean barbicide exists for a reason and shears can carry bloodborne pathogens between clients (especially if anyone has any open cuts or sores). Instead of calling her out directly in front of everyone, maybe pull her aside later and frame it like "hey I heard you mention the towel thing and I used to do that too before I realized how much bacteria actually stays on the blades." It's not about being the bad guy, it's about protecting clients and honestly protecting her from getting in trouble with the health department later.
