Back in my first year at the salon in Dayton, I completely misjudged a toner and turned a client's platinum hair a weird shade of lavender right before her wedding rehearsal dinner.

I had to run to the supply store, grab a clarifying shampoo and a neutral 9N, and redo the whole thing in the back room while she cried, but it ended up looking better than the original plan and she tipped me double, so has anyone else had a color panic that somehow worked out okay?

Man, that's the worst feeling. I once had to fix a greenish tint on a client's blonde with a quick red-gold corrector. It actually gave her hair way more depth than she wanted, but she loved it in the end.

Actually, that sounds like a lucky accident. Most clients would be pretty upset if you gave them something they didn't ask for, even if it turned out okay. You can't really rely on happy mistakes as a plan.
