Went to a big office in Phoenix and saw their server room had no cable labels
I was fixing an AC unit next to their server rack and noticed every single cable was the same color with no tags. The IT guy said it saves time during setup, but the next tech will have a nightmare tracing anything. Do you think labeling cables is a basic must-do, or is it okay to skip if you're the only one who works on the system?

I mean, my school's AV closet looks the same way. It feels like a thing people do to save ten minutes now and make a huge mess for later.

Yeah that "save ten minutes now" thing is so real. My buddy had to fix a server rack at his old job that was a total rats nest of cables from people doing quick patches. He spent like two full days just tracing wires and cleaning it up.

Wait, is that really saving time though? Sounds like @rowan972's buddy lost way more than ten minutes fixing it later.
