Warning: I'm seeing way more water damaged laptops from people working outside since last month.

Water damaged laptops from people working outside" makes it sound like they're just getting caught in rain. The real problem is condensation. When you bring a cold laptop from air conditioning into hot, humid summer air, water forms inside it. That kills electronics faster than a quick splash.

My repair shop in Florida sees ten times more laptops killed by coffee spills than condensation. @jones.gray is right, modern boards have coatings that handle brief moisture from temperature shifts. The real killer is leaving a wet device powered on, not the condensation itself.

Condensation kills electronics faster" seems a bit much. My old laptop survived years of that back and forth from the library AC.
