Swapped my tower case for a rackmount and wish I did it sooner
I spent 3 years working on a standard mid-tower with cramped cable management and bad airflow. Last month I picked up a used 4U rackmount case for $40 on Facebook Marketplace. The difference in working room and cooling is night and day. Anyone else made the switch and felt the same way?

Oh, "night and day" you say? I have to call you out on that one (and I say this with love, trust me). You swapped a tower for a rackmount and somehow think that gave you better cable management? Rackmount cases are a nightmare for that, every time you need to swap a drive you have to pull the whole thing out and deal with a rats nest of cables that never go back the same way. And airflow? Please. Unless you're running a dedicated server room with crazy fans, those rackmount cases just funnel heat straight into your components because they're designed for data centers with industrial cooling, not your living room. I helped a buddy build in a 4U once and it sounded like a jet engine taking off from his desk. I'll take my quiet mid-tower with its nice big fans and easy access any day (no pulling out a 40 pound chassis just to dust the filters). Plus towers look way better than some ugly gray metal box sitting there like a piece of lab equipment.

Guess I'll just keep tripping over my tower then...
