Shoutout to the DVI cable that had me crawling under a desk in Akron for 90 minutes
Client swore their second monitor was dead so I swapped it, swapped the GPU port, even ran a new driver install before I noticed the DVI plug was bent just enough to only half seat. I sat there on the floor of their office in Akron for 90 minutes on a job that should have been 10, and the whole time the answer was staring at me from six inches away. Does anyone else have a check they now do first every single time because of one bad call like this?
Wondering how long it took before you actually looked at the connector, because that is the part that gets me every time. Was it the bend you finally spotted, or did you catch it some other way and the bend was just the reason? I ask because my own version of this is a power strip switch that some furniture mover bumped off, and I spent way too long chasing a dead outlet before I checked the dumbest thing first. Now I flip that switch and reseat every cable end before I touch anything else, no matter how sure the client sounds. Curious if you now go straight for the physical connection before you even open a settings menu, or if you still run a quick test first to rule out the easy stuff.
