My WD drive kicked the bucket mid-route last Tuesday
I was rolling through Nebraska when my external drive just started clicking and I lost 3 days of work logs. Turns out the USB port on my laptop had a bent pin that shorted something out in the enclosure. Anybody know a reliable way to recover data from a dead 2TB drive without paying a fortune?

Bent pin shorting the enclosure" - that's a new one on me. Did you try swapping the drive into a different enclosure first, or did you open it up?

Straight to a new enclosure first. Opening it up is a last resort move.

Honestly, what kind of bent pin are we talking? Like at the connector or on the board?
