My $40 fire extinguisher just saved my test bench

I blew $40 on a Firexo all-purpose extinguisher after watching a YouTube video, and yesterday a power supply decided to pop a cap and start smoking. The thing put out the flames in like two seconds without messing up my multimeter or scoping probes nearby. Anyone else keep a compact extinguisher within reach or just rely on the whole 'pull the plug and pray' method?

Did you ever check if your homeowner's or renter's insurance would give you a discount for having a fire extinguisher nearby? Ngl, I found out the hard way after a small kitchen fire that some companies actually knock a few bucks off your premium if you've got one and it's not expired. Tbh, it's one of those things nobody talks about but can save you money in the long run. Plus, it makes you feel less stupid when you realize you've been paying for coverage that expects you to let stuff burn. Worth a quick call to your agent if you ask me.

Man that's rough about the kitchen fire... I had a small one in my garage last year from a battery charger and it scared me straight. My insurance agent actually mentioned the discount thing when I called to renew, but I just never followed up on it. Having that extinguisher nearby gives me some peace of mind even if I haven't checked the expiration date in a while. It's one of those things you don't think about until you really need it and then you're glad you spent the money.
