Just realized I've been thermal pasting CPU coolers wrong for years...

I had a customer bring in a gaming PC that kept thermal throttling after about 30 minutes of play. Pulled the cooler off and the paste was spread unevenly with big air gaps around the edges. I used to just blob it in the middle and hope for the best. Then I watched a video comparing spread methods and the line method worked way better on my own rig. Anyone else ever have a 'wait, I'm the amateur' moment on something basic like this?

I bet your thermal paste was as uneven as my terrible cooking skills.

The last time I tried cooking I set off the fire alarm so badly my own crew showed up. Turns out I'm better at thermal paste than risotto.

My garlic bread incident was so bad my smoke detector went off and then the building sprinklers kicked in. I started using a cheap induction hot plate out on my balcony for anything that involves oil or high heat. Now I keep a box fan pointed at the window and a lid big enough to cover any pan that flares up. It's not fancy but it beats explaining to my landlord why the hallway smells like a crematorium again.
