Hit 1,000 completed repairs and the one that stuck with me

After 11 years of running my own repair bench, I finally crossed 1,000 completed jobs last month. I keep a little notebook with every ticket, mostly to track parts and warranty stuff, but flipping back through it made me realize something. Number 412 was a tiny Dell laptop from 2019, some lady's work machine that wouldn't boot, turned out to be a single corroded RAM slot. I fixed it in 20 minutes, charged her 60 bucks, and she cried because she thought she'd lost her thesis drafts. That moment mattered more than the other 999 put together, and it still shapes how I talk to every customer who walks in nervous. Since then I've started asking people what's on their hard drive before I even touch the thing, like, what data would hurt to lose. Has anyone else hit a milestone that made you rethink your whole workflow, or am I just getting sentimental in my old age?

Honestly thought sentiment was just noise before, but your point about asking what data matters first is the kind of shift that actually changes how people trust you. Makes me want to steal that move, not gonna lie.
