BIOS update bricked a client's PC on a Friday at 4:45pm, and I had no backup board
Was finishing a routine tune-up at my bench in Toledo when a forced BIOS flash froze at 80 percent and the board never posted again. Client needed it Monday for a job interview, so I drove 90 minutes to a Micro Center for a replacement board and ate the cost. How do you all handle BIOS flashes on client machines, do you refuse them or always keep a spare board around?
Did the client at least buy you dinner for that 90 minute rescue mission, or just a handshake and a "thanks buddy"?
Lesson learned the hard way, always keep a cheap spare board in the closet so Friday afternoons don't turn into road trips.
