A shop owner in Dallas told me to stop cleaning every laptop fan, and I think he's right
I was picking up a board repair from a guy who runs a one man shop in Dallas, and he said he turns away 9 out of 10 fan cleaning jobs now. His point was that popping the bottom off a sealed ultrabook to blow out dust often does more harm than good if you don't reseat the thermal pad right. I used to take every cleaning job that walked in because it felt like easy money. Now I ask what the temps actually are before I open anything. What's your cutoff for saying no to a cleaning request?
