A client in Phoenix said my cable ties were a fire hazard waiting to happen
They pointed out I was bundling AC power with data cables, which can overheat. Has anyone else switched to Velcro straps and separate routing channels for safety?

My electrician cousin in Tampa told me last year that improper cable bundling causes more small fires than people realize. It's one of those things that seems fine until your wall gets warm and you smell plastic. I switched to Velcro and separate runs after that talk, and honestly, the peace of mind is worth the extra ten minutes of work. Makes you wonder what other simple fixes we're all ignoring because the danger isn't obvious.

Yeah, your cousin's story is the kind of thing that makes me side-eye my own cable mess behind the TV. I probably have a fire hazard shaped like a PlayStation back there. It's one of those "out of sight, out of mind" things until it very much isn't. Good on you, @xena_kim, for actually doing something about it. I keep meaning to sort mine, but then I just zip-tie it all tighter and call it a day, which is probably the exact opposite of smart.

Totally agree with your cousin. I saw a video where bundled cables melted through a power strip. Velcro lets you keep things neat without the risk. It's a cheap fix for a scary problem.
