Took a weekend welding course at a community college last winter, and my career totally shifted direction

Ngl, I signed up for the intro to welding class at Piedmont Community College just to pick up a side skill for home repairs. But after 3 sessions, my instructor Mr. Davis told me I had a natural hand for TIG welding. I ended up quitting my concrete job and now I'm apprenticing at a custom fabrication shop in Charlotte. Has anyone else taken a random class that completely changed their career path?

Man, I gotta say, that sounds like a lot of drama over a weekend class. @jason524 might have a point about it being a big move, but I don't know if quitting your whole gig over three sessions is as profound as people make it sound. Seems like a lot of folks make it out to be this huge life-changer when it's just trying something new.

Wait, you QUIT concrete work for this? That's a HUGE leap. I can't believe you just walked away from something stable like that.

@jason524 you're looking at it backwards though. Stable doesn't mean happy. Concrete work pays the bills sure but if your soul is dying inside what's the point? Sometimes you gotta take a leap or you'll be stuck forever wondering what if.
