Spent 18 months chasing a certification that didn't help at all

Everyone said getting the PMP would open doors but I spent 18 months studying and paying for it while working full time in Denver. Applied to 40 jobs with it on my resume and got zero interviews until I took it off and used my actual project examples instead. Has anyone else found their certs are useless for getting hired in this market?

Wow another certification scam exposed. 18 months of your life gone and they still wanted real experience over a piece of paper. Shocking.

Oh man, it's such a joke. I dropped $3k on a "prestigious" cert and the hiring manager laughed when I brought it up during an interview.
